50 Voices, 1 University: Addressing Our Challenges and Finding Solutions
Prevalent Issues
Our survey revealed two primary concerns among students:
Waste Management: Overflowing trash cans were a common complaint across all grade levels. Students emphasized the negative impact on hygiene and aesthetics, with comments like: "Walay tarong basurahan, di pa gyud disiplinado ang uban" (Engineering student).
Internet Connectivity: Unreliable Wi-Fi was a significant obstacle to academic work. Students expressed frustration with online research and assignment submission disruptions, as noted by: "Astang hinaya gyud sa signal" (Engineering student).
Beyond the Data
While the survey provided valuable data, it is essential to consider the qualitative aspects of student experiences. The comments and frustrations highlight the real-world impact of these issues on student well-being and academic success.
Collective Problem-Solving
The survey's spirit extended beyond identifying issues to exploring solutions. Students proposed insightful ideas for improvement, such as:
Waste Management Solutions:
- Organizing school-wide clean-up days to address immediate concerns.
- Implementing a recycling program to promote environmental awareness.
- Increasing the availability of trash cans in high-traffic areas.
Internet Connectivity Solutions:
- Investing in stronger Wi-Fi infrastructure for better signal strength.
- Designating specific zones within the school for activities requiring reliable internet access.
- Exploring alternative internet access options if necessary.
